The ULTIMATE News
As you may know or may not already know, Brendan Sexton Jr. has worked on a few new films, been in a couple magazines and is on his way to becoming a big film star. This indie-king has been in movies from "Empire Records" with some big stars such as: Liv Tyler ( which happens to be one of his friends ), Johnny Whitworth, Robin Tunney, and many more to the smaller movie which made him an even bigger star "Welcome to the Dollhouse" which also stars: Heather Matarazzo. But the movie that really gave Brendan the leading role was "Hurricane Streets" which opened in February '98.
In "Hurricane Streets" Brendan plays Marcus, whi is a troubled 15- year old boy whose life is tilting toward a life of crime. Marcus' mother is in jail for killing her abusive husband, is being brought up by his grandmother who bartends.
Marcus thinks that his mother has been put away in jail for smuggling illegal immigrants across the Mexican border. He finds out the truth when he is interrogated by the police after he is caught selling stolen merchandise.
Marcus hangs out with his five other friends and then one day meets 14-year old Melena ( Isidra Vega ). With her over-protective father in their way mracus and Melena make big plans to ditch the city and go out to the open lands of New Mexico.
Will it happen?...Wait till the movie comes out on video if you haven't already seen it in theathers.
Some articles Brendan has been in are "Summer Issue of Moxie Girl" and "Twist" Magazine.
Here is the one fromTwist
Brendan Sexton III Staring in:"Pecker"
Babely Brendan is the darling of the indie film world. The Staten Island born 18 year old spent the last few years in the Sundance Film festival Spotlight, firts for "Welcome to the Dollhouse" and the for tis year's "Hurricane Streets", securing his place in the "little film" legend. Earlier in his career he turned down roles and potential big bucks in "Flipper", "Leave it to Beaver", and a big-budget Kevin Bacon movie. In Brendan's latest project, directed by indie-god John Waters ("Serial Mom"), yummy Edwarld Furlong playes pecker( nicknamed for the way he eats his food ), who is capulated to fame after a picture of his family attracts the attention of the art world. Brendan plays Pecker's pal whi gets caught up in this wacky success story. Though Brendan himself shys away from blockbusters, his real life buddies are among the biggest in the biz: Liv Tyler and Christina Ricci are friends and fans. And his love life, finding a mate is not high on Brendan's list right now. What is? Finding a roommate, since he's looking to move from his folks' house to his own place in New York City.
And from Moxie Girl
If you haven't seen "Welcome to the Dollhouse" or "Empire Records" then I jusat don't know what to do with you. Dollhouse gave the world a shot f truth serum and showed everyone how brutal being a teenager can be. Empire was just damn good to watch because of the swanky cast. Meow.
Heart of gold actor Brendn Sexton III, stole scenes in both films, but he truly marked his acting career when he played Weinerdog's sortakindamaybe boyfriend in Dollhouse. "I've seen that movie so many times that I can't watch it, just like I can' watch "Titanic" six times without wanting to puke," says Brendan.
You gotta appreciate that kind of candor. Spend five mins. with Bren and you'll get that he's not trying to be all cool in that "Look, I'm badass" kinda way that so many guys get goin'. He just IS cool, really. Articulate and genuine. And the attitude> I'd go as afr as to say he doesn't give two squirts what anyone of us thinks.
But, we happen to think goo things about the New York born Brendan--so there. When he played the gun-slinging Warren in "Empire Records", he was so cute I wanted to break up with my boyfriend. "I liked Warren because he thought he was cool, but he really was a loser," says Brendan. On your behalf, I fished for some good Liv Tyler dirt, but got nada. Brendan has a girlfriend. Figures.
Everyone, including Brendan, figured Empire would launch his carerr, but when it went to video like two mins. after it was released. So, after years of acting classes and school plays, the unlikely "Dollhouse" did the job.
Still, I want you all to apreciate this guy's on screen allure, so please go see his latest gig,"Pecker", a John Waters film where Brendan will play opposite Cristina Ricci, Lilli Taylor and Edward Furlong.
